Current Microscope Tender Scam- Tri-3D 32MP 800x6000 Microscope
This article is a quick public service notice for businesses seeking quotations for a large quantity of the Tri-3D 32MP 800×6000 microscope model.
There is an apparent tender document from the National Department of Health circulating through various channels which is requesting usually 50+ units of a specific microscope, the Tri-3D 32MP 800×6000 Microscope. This tender document is fake. It is not listed in the official government tender portals and there are several irregularities within the tender document if one reads through it carefully.
There are many irregularities regarding the product being requested as well. A microscope with the listed specifications does not exist, the magnification range of 800-6000x is unheard of for a compound microscope and the camera pixels are exaggerated. Furthermore, there is only one company in the entire world that sells this specific model and the website it is listed on is highly suspicious with many irregularities that screams scam.
How does the scam work?:
The scammers issue a fake tender using a fake product that does not exist. That product will have specifications that no other similar type of product possesses. The product will only be listed on one website.
The scammers then wait for unsuspecting legit businesses to contact them for a quotation of which they will issue. The legit business will then submit their tender application ( which is also run by the scammers) and they will win the bid. No payment will be made to the winning bidder, but the “department” will request speedy delivery of the microscopes with the promise that funds will be paid within 30 days etc. The legit business will then go and place an order with the scam website who will request funds in advance before processing the order.
Please note this type of format works with many different products please be vigilant.
BennyZA will no longer respond to requests for this product.
