BennyZA Q1 Update: Advancing Microscopy & Lab Automation in South Africa
Bridging the gap between high-end technology and accessibility in the African market.
BennyZA remains committed to being the forefront leader in the microscopy world across South Africa and select African countries. We continue to strive toward bridging the gap between high-end, innovative technology and accessibility in our target markets. This is achieved through numerous avenues, with each step meticulously considered to support the local scientific community.
A Comprehensive Suite of Microscopy Solutions
The first pillar of our strategy is a robust and versatile suite of renowned microscopy brands, allowing us to deliver a comprehensive range of imaging and complementary techniques. By partnering with diverse global manufacturers, we offer specialized options within each discipline that continue to expand.
Furthermore, we select suppliers based on the robustness and affordability of their solutions. We place specific emphasis on usability and low-cost maintenance, ensuring the longevity of your laboratory equipment and helping to mitigate premature equipment obsolescence.
Our brightfield microscopy and associated specialized systems remain anchored in our strong relationships with AmScope, Euromex, and Metzer-M.

Introducing Bionomous: AI-Powered Lab Automation.
On this note, I am proud to introduce the latest addition to our supplier portfolio: Bionomous.
Bionomous provides AI-powered automation for the precise screening, sorting, and dispensing of small biological entities. This technology is a game-changer for life sciences research in South Africa, particularly for New Approach Methods (NAMs) involving organoids, as well as the rapidly growing field of zebrafish research. Both of their flagship products—the EggSorter and Lab-Swipe—are now available for procurement through BennyZA.
These products directly address an often hidden but enormous cost in the South African lab environment: Time. In many budgets, time is seen as expendable—a sacrifice made to accommodate financial constraints. However, time is the most valuable resource we wish to restore to researchers. We firmly believe in Bionomous equipment to achieve this and look forward to our future growth together.
Technical Excellence: LVEM Training in Brno
In terms of continuous professional development, BennyZA sent a technical team to Brno, Czech Republic, during the second week of February. The event, hosted by Delong Instruments and Delong America, was an intensive five-day program focusing on the intersection of theoretical physics and practical application.
Our technicians received advanced hands-on training with low-voltage electron microscopy systems, including the LVEM5 and LVEM25E. This ensures we can provide world-class support, maintenance, and end-user training right here in Southern Africa.
Events like these allow us to better understand our suppliers and align with their philosophy and values. We have confirmed that our partners have the global capacity to support not only BennyZA but the specific needs of the market we serve. We thank Delong Instruments and Delong America for their graciousness in hosting us.
Looking Ahead
Q1 has been an eventful and exciting time for BennyZA. Our expansion remains steady and strong, with several promising projects in the pipeline. We remain, as always, grounded in gratitude—to our suppliers for their effortless collaboration and to our clients who continue to trust us with their research needs.
